In the morning I attended this ticketed workshop. I can't wait to get back to school and get started with the free application My Tech Desk. Maybe I won't get stopped in the halls so often if we use this for teachers to request tech help (I always worry that I'll forget what someone told me by the time I get back to my desk). I took notes during this session and saved them onto this Word Doc.
Not a lot of people here this early. The group included an El Dorado County Office of Education tech coordinator as well as the one from Visions. There were also people from Southern California, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee....almost forgot to mention that I won two raffle items: a 2-month subscription to Pixton and a yearlong site subscription to NetTrekker.
Wiki Wiki Quick Quick3-6pm
This afternoon, I'm in a workshop being conducted by Kathleen Ferenz and have found it delightful. It was very hands on and that is right up my learning alley. We were directed to create a wiki on PBwiki and off we went! For example, in my wiki, I managed to:
Drag and drop a PDF file (open in a new window, grab the sandwich icon and drag to your editing page- then I used the link tool to change the look), just like I did for this useful guide which explains how to behave on a wiki.
I also learned how to....
Embed a video into my wiki:
I did this by using the 'Insert Plugin' option from the toolbar.
I think I have to go shopping now because I want a Flip camera! Imagine, a built-in USB....thingy.
And then I learned about protecting/licensing my intellectual property for free when I visited Creative Commons.
Decided to 'copyright' some of my work. For example: .
Don't think I've done it quite right (video not embedded here) but it's a start. Part of my learning curve with PBwiki is that I keep trying to edit the VIEW page and so I have 'double-edited' a number of pages.
